Reading by Deirdre Sullivan at the University of Siegen

"I really enjoyed listening to Deirdre Sullivan reading from her books and talking about what inspires her to write. It was inspiring to hear her talk about her writing and to hear with how much emotion she read from her books. She knew how to make you feel like you were right there, in her book, and as if it was her protagonist telling her own story. I really admired that and also enjoyed that she answered all of our questions. All in all, I would say that it was a great experience and I hope that I will have the opportunity to participate in another reading like this one day."

"I was one of the people who went to the reading by Deirdre Sullivan and my impression was very positive. Especially when Mrs. Sullivan read out of her works, I was captivated due to the emotion in her voice. I am also a fan of mystical themes like mermaids, vampires and magic in general. Not knowing much about Irish folklore before, this was an opportunity for me to learn about something entirely new."

"I think the author reading was interesting for students who study literature or are simply interested in books in general. The reading consisted of a good mixture of personal experiences as a writer, dscussions about Irish folklore, and presentations of books along with the author's thoughts and the process behind writing and publishing. It was also interesting that Deirdre presented her books in chronological order, so we got an insight into the different motivations and concepts she had at the time. It's nice that the university offers such programs, and it personally gave me new impulses."
