"I really enjoyed the evening with Jan Carson at Café SWANE and am so grateful she took the time to answer all our questions. I completely agree with her observation that the event almost felt like a stand-up comedy show at first, her humor made even the heavier topics engaging and entertaining. One aspect I found particularly fascinating was how her personal life, especially her childhood, has influenced and continues to shape her writing. After listening to Carson, I’ve gained a new perspective on her works. It felt as though I got a glimpse into her childhood in Northern Ireland."

"I thoroughly enjoyed the reading by Jan Carson last week and am grateful that she took the time to visit Wuppertal. Her humour and quick wit made the event both entertaining and insightful. Listening to her speak also helped put everything we have learned about her books into a richer perspective, adding layers to my understanding of her work. One aspect I found particularly fascinating was her inclusion of religious themes in her writing. Many of her characters possess strong religious beliefs, and Carson suggested that the Bible could be viewed as a form of magic realism to some extent. This perspective really resonated with me, as I had previously wondered how religion interacts with the genre of magic realism."
