Brilliant Belfast writer Jan Carson visits the Leuven Centre for Irish Studies for a reading and Q&A on 27 March in Barboék Leuven, at 6 pm CET. Jan is a fiercely original writer, who often uses magical elements in her short stories and novels as she tries to make sense of Northern Ireland's tumultuous past and present. Her powerful novel about fatherhood, The Fire Starters, won the EU Prize for Literature in 2019 and her most recent novel, The Raptures received raving reviews. A short story series commissioned by BBC radio 4 came out as The Last Resort in 2021. Jan is also very active in arts and community work in Belfast.
