Deirdre Sullivan at the Gothic Horror Festival in Nijmegen

On Halloween, Deirdre Sullivan entered the Gothic Horror Festival stage and captured the audience with a contagious enthusiasm. She is an Irish autho who has loved Irish folklore since childhood and translated her love into her writings. Coming from someone who barely has read any gothic horror, I became more intrigued throughout her interview. It was her out loud reading of the prologue of ther novel Perfectly Preventable Deaths that captured me fully. Great comedic timing, a hint of suspense, compelling characters at first glance; I am hooked. I would like to thank Deirdre Sullivan for introducing me to the genre and that she signed my freshly bought novel. I am so excited to ravish the book and to discover her entire bibliography.

The interview with Deirdre Sullivan at the Gothic and Horror Festival in Nijmegen was a true highlight of the evening fo me. Her reflections on Irish folklore and her own writing were very interesting and thought-provoking. The vivid way she read from her novels still echoes in my mind, and I'm very excited to read more of her work!
