Sa bhliain 2019 beidh fiche bliain ann ó cailleadh an file Michael Hartnett/Mícheál Ó hAirtnéide (1941-1999). ‘Limerick’s Lorca’ a thug Séamas Heaney ar Hartnett ach ba mhinic a cheap an file féin go raibh sé ina ‘aonarán’ is é ag saothrú na filíochta Gaeilge. Is tráthúil, agus is tábhachtach mar sin, athphlé a dhéanamh ar ionad an fhile agus ar ionad a shaothair i gcanóin na litríochta. Beidh an chomhdháil ar siúl i gColáiste Mhuire gan Smál ar Aoine an 24 Bealtaine i gcathair Luimnigh i gcontae dúchais an fhile.

2019 marks 20 years since the death of the poet Michael Hartnett (1941-1999). Referred to as "Limerick's Lorca" by Seamus Heaney, Hartnett often thought he was more of a loner due to his work with poetry "as Gaeilge". Therefore it is timely and important to take another look at the place of the poet and his work in the literary canon. The conference will take place on the 24th of May at Mary Immaculate College in Limerick (Hartnetts home county).
