Summer Writing Retreat for PhD and early-career researchers

  1. Home
  2. Summer Writing Retreat for PhD and early-career researchers

We are pleased to announce that we plan to organize a summer writing retreat in August this year at the Irish College in Leuven, Belgium.

The concept is quite simple: we would like to gather as many PhD and early-career researchers as possible, so as to get to know each other, talk about our research topics and, of course, write! Days will be divided into blocks: each day will include focused writing time alongside workshops on topics including academic publishing and professional development. There will also be social programming designed to allow us to get to know one another better and enjoy the lovely city of Leuven in summer.

Though we hope to welcome as many of you as possible in Leuven, the event will follow a hybrid format: workshops and writing sessions will be live-streamed so that those who can't join us in person can also contribute virtually. Virtual participation will be free of charge.

We anticipate the registration costs for in-person participants as follows:

295 euros for a shared (double) room

415 euros for a single (private) room

Registration costs include four nights of accommodation, breakfast, one coffee break per day, one drinks reception, and one group meal.

If you are potentially interested in attending the event either in person or online, then we ask that you please fill out this survey by June 13th. On the basis of these responses, we'll generate an email list to confirm the date of the event and open registration. To confirm, this survey is not binding: registration information will follow later in June.

Thanks, and we hope to see many of you there!
