Deirdre Sullivan crafst hauntingly lyrical narratives that blend folklore, feminism, and the uncanny, giving voice to the silenced and reshaping Irish storytelling for a new generation.

Meeting Deridre Sullivan in person made me appreciate her work even more. She is a marvellous woman who is clearly passionate about her writing. She read out loud a very touching fragment from one of her books, and no one in the room could contain the emotion inspired by listening to her. It was undoubtedly one of the most special moments of the week.

Deirdre Sullivan had a hold on the room: her readings of the excerpts were invitations into the heart of her novels; with every word, and with every line she read, she pulled us deeper into the heart of the characters, making their emotions feel like our own. It was an honor to share the space with her and to witness the magic of her storytelling up close.

I am also grateful for Deirdre Sullivan's response to my question about how folklore influences contemporary Irish identity and the role of literature in keeping these traditions vibrant. Deirdre skilfully expressed how literature acts as a dynamic bridge between the past and present, breathing new life into old stories and ensuring they remain a vital part of today's cultural dialogue. Her perspective has broadened my understanding of how literature can actively shape and sustain cultural identitites. This has sparked my academic curiosity and creative desires, motivating me to explore how I can contribute to the ongoing dialogue between Irish folklore and modernity in my future work. These insights from leading figures in Irish literature have not only enriched my learning but also solidified my resolve to explore Irish Itinerary traditions in my academic and creative journeys.

Wow, it has been quite an experience to have the visit of two such prestigious writers. Firstly, because it allows us, as potential academics, to engage with people who exude talent and are truly inspiring. Secondly, because of the privilege of hearing, in their own voices, the very words that, when read, resonate with mine. I particulary enjoyed Deirdre's, whose expression truly captivated me in class, and having her voice guide the public reading made the talk a very special moment for me - and I am sure for everyone present. Finally, I believe the Q&A session with both writers was an incredibly enrichting experience for all. Sometimes, we are just one question and one answer away from taking the step toward something we want to, and having the chance to ask such wise authors is a real gift. Thank you, Pilar, and thanks to all the organizers for making this possible.
