Introducing the new EFACIS staff

Sven Kretzschmar, EFACIS coordinator

Sven is from Germany. He holds a BA in Philosophy and English from Saarland University, Germany, an MA in Modern and Contemporary European Philosophy from the University of Luxembourg, and has just handed in an MLitt thesis in Medical Ethics at University College Dublin. Aside from questions in applied ethics, his academic interests are in philosophy and literature (particularly with regards to Irish poetry), ethics – broadly construed, and Early Modern theatre; he writes poetry in English and absurd short prose pieces in German, and is the current chairman of the German-Irish Society Saarland; together with colleagues from Saarbrücken and Warsaw, he is editing a volume/conference proceedings on the cultural histories of Britishness; for the time after EFACIS, he is loosely preparing a PhD thesis on the Philosophy of Autobiography.

Vera Gonskaya, EFACIS intern

Vera studies for a Bachelor in Anglophone Studies at Metropolitan University Prague, and is an avid lover of all things Irish. She is in Leuven for an ERASMUS internship at the Leuven Centre for Irish Studies. She is beyond exited to be in the heart of the Irish Studies on the continent, and hopes to help further the impact of LCIS worldwide.

Rebecca Jackson, EFACIS intern

Rebecca is a Master of Cultural Studies student at KU Leuven, and will be interning with EFACIS as part of her degree credits to gain practical experience in the cultural sector. She is from Vancouver, Canada, and recently completed her bacherlor's degree at the University of St Andrews, Scotland in Modern History. Her main task at the moment is technically supporting the John Banville translation project website, and she will take on other roles with EFACIS in the coming months.
